Game Removed from Steam After Fan Claims Ownership of Game Mode
Following a recent update, Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic has been reinstated on Steam, with developer 3Division expressing gratitude to fans for their patience and support during this challenging situation. The team acknowledged underestimating the severity of the dispute and apologized for any inconvenience caused to potential buyers. Although the details of the resolution with the DMCA complainant remain undisclosed, the developers are pleased to put the matter behind them. The issue initially arose when a fan, who had created a guide for a more challenging gameplay mode, claimed ownership of the game's Realistic Mode and issued a DMCA takedown notice. The developer maintained that the fan's guide did not contribute to the game's code and only demonstrated a possible way to play the game. The studio had offered to credit the fan, along with other contributors, after the game's full launch, but this offer was withdrawn due to the fan's actions.
