Ubisoft Undertakes Restructuring of European Operations
Ubisoft has initiated a strategic overhaul of its European business operations, amid speculation regarding potential office closures. An internal email allegedly circulated among staff, as shared by a Resetera user and reported by NME, suggests that Ubisoft Benelux is slated for closure by April 1, 2023. The email purportedly cites declining physical sales and the rise of free-to-play models as contributing factors. According to the email, Ubisoft's management has opted to close several European subsidiaries, with the Benelux entity being one of them, resulting in the majority of its employees departing by the specified date. The distribution of physical games in the Benelux region will be fully outsourced to a yet-to-be-announced distributor. In response to inquiries, a Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed the ongoing reorganization of its European business subsidiaries but did not provide further details.
