Hogwarts Legacy Clings to Top Spot in UK Boxed Charts, Edging Out Metroid Prime Remastered

Hogwarts Legacy maintains its grip on the number one position in the UK physical retail charts for the fourth week running, despite experiencing a 30% decline in sales. Its closest competitor, Metroid Prime Remastered from Nintendo, narrowly misses the top spot by a margin of just 1,000 units. Notably, Metroid Prime Remastered was initially released digitally in early February and has been available for nearly a month, yet it still boasts the fourth biggest physical launch in the Metroid series. The sales of this physical edition are 45% lower than the original game's performance in 2002. Metroid Prime Remastered is the second most successful physical launch of the year to date, surpassing the Dead Space remake and Fire Emblem Engage. Since Nintendo does not disclose digital sales figures, the overall success of the game in the UK remains uncertain. However, the unconventional launch strategy appears to have been effective. Another new entry this week is Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty from Koei Tecmo, which debuts at number eight, with 96% of its physical sales attributed to PlayStation platforms, although overall boxed sales are modest. A more comprehensive understanding of its performance will be possible once digital data becomes available. Scars Above from Prime Matter enters the physical charts at number 22. Among last week's new releases, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe drops from number three to six following a 44% decline in sales, while Octopath Traveller 2 falls from number six to 14 after a 45% decrease in sales. Atomic Heart from Focus Home Interactive plummeted from number seven to 25 due to a 69% drop in sales. In the rest of the top five, FIFA 23 slips to number three despite a 6% increase in sales, and God of War Ragnarok, which remains a popular PS5 bundle, holds steady at number four with a 4% sales improvement. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe remains at number five and also experienced an 8% rise in sales.
