The Wolf Among Us 2 Release Pushed to 2024 to Prevent Overwork

Telltale Games has announced a delay in the release of The Wolf Among Us 2, with the game now scheduled to launch in 2024. The decision to postpone the release is aimed at preventing staff burnout and allowing for a switch from Unreal Engine 4 to UE5. In an interview with IGN, Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie discussed the challenges of rebuilding the studio during the pandemic and his commitment to maintaining a healthy work culture. Ottilie expressed his determination to avoid overwork, citing his own past experiences and the need for the industry to adopt better practices. He emphasized that burning out employees is not a viable long-term business strategy, particularly in the context of the current labor market and the growth of the gaming industry. The delay comes after Telltale secured $8 million in funding, which will be used to support the development of The Wolf Among Us 2, as well as other projects, including The Expanse: A Telltale Series.
