Baldur's Gate 3: Technical Hurdles Delay Xbox Release Confirmation
Larian Studios has shed light on why the Xbox versions of Baldur's Gate 3 were absent from the list of platforms when the game's August 31 release date was announced for PS5, PC, Mac, and GeForce Now. The developer revealed that it has been working on an Xbox version of the game, but encountered technical difficulties, specifically with split-screen co-op, which is a crucial feature for the game's release. Larian stated that it has been unable to achieve the same standard of co-op functionality on both Xbox Series X and S, a requirement for the game's launch. The studio emphasized that there is no exclusivity deal preventing the Xbox version from being released alongside other platforms, should the technical issues be resolved in time. Larian aims to ensure that each version of the game meets its high standards before making any announcements. Initially released on Steam Early Access in 2020, Baldur's Gate 3 has been in development for several years, with the studio committed to delivering a polished experience across all platforms.
