Behaviour Interactive Expands into Europe with SockMonkey Studios Acquisition

Behaviour Interactive, a Canadian company, has announced its acquisition of SockMonkey Studios, a UK-based co-development studio. The financial details of the acquisition have not been made public. This move marks Behaviour's inaugural investment in Europe, with SockMonkey Studios set to be rebranded as Behaviour UK – North upon completion of the acquisition. The studio will become part of Behaviour's services division, which provides development support to major companies such as Sony, Activision, and Ubisoft. Founded in 2013 by university graduates Bob Makin and Darren Cuthbert, SockMonkey Studios is based in Teesside and currently employs 45 staff. According to Makin, this acquisition represents the starting point of Behaviour's European expansion, with plans to establish the Teesside area as a hub for game development. This move follows Behaviour Interactive's acquisition of Midwinter Entertainment, the studio behind Scavengers, from Improbable last year.
