Bungie Pursues $6.7 Million in Damages Against LaviCheats

Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, has requested a default judgment of $6.7 million against LaviCheats, a website that allegedly distributed cheat software for the game. According to reports, the motion was filed after the website's operator failed to appear in court. The claimed damages amount to $2000 per download, totaling 2,790 instances of Destiny 2 cheat software obtained from LaviCheats. Following the lawsuit, the cheat provider announced it would cease selling Destiny 2 cheats but instructed users to purchase them from alternative sources. Bungie's legal dispute with LaviCheats began in 2021, when the studio filed a complaint against the website and other cheat platforms for copyright infringement. The game developer has been actively combating cheat sellers, including an ongoing case against AimJunkies, for which Bungie was awarded $4.3 million in a partial victory.
