Sega Announces Significant Salary Hike for Japan-Based Staff

Japanese entertainment company Sega Sammy has revealed plans to boost the salaries of its employees based in Japan. The pay increase, which will come into effect on July 1, will see a 30% rise in wages for the company's workforce. According to Sega Sammy, the decision to revise the compensation package is aimed at providing greater financial stability for employees, fostering a more comfortable work environment, and enhancing the company's competitiveness on a global scale. Furthermore, the starting salary for university graduates will be raised from ¥222,000 to ¥300,000, representing a 35% increase. This move follows similar announcements by other major Japanese gaming companies, including Nintendo, which announced a 10% pay increase for its employees in February, and Capcom, which raised salaries by 30% in March 2022. Bandai Namco also increased the base pay for its Japan-based staff in March last year.
