Telltale Secures $8 Million in Funding from Hiro Capital and Skybound

Telltale has successfully raised $8 million in a Series A funding round, led by Hiro Capital and accompanied by an investment from Skybound Entertainment. The primary focus of the funds will be to drive the release of The Expanse: A Telltale Series, slated for this summer, as well as to propel the development of The Wolf Among Us 2 and an unannounced title. Telltale's CEO, Jamie Ottilie, expressed his gratitude, stating, "We're thrilled to have earned the trust of Hiro Capital, a fund dedicated to the advancement of the gaming industry, and our partners at Skybound Entertainment. This collaboration is a natural fit, given our shared passion for narrative-driven games and transmedia entertainment." This partnership marks a continuation of Telltale's previous collaborations with Skybound, including the critically acclaimed Walking Dead series, which returned to digital storefronts in 2020 after a brief hiatus following Telltale's closure in 2018. Skybound CEO David Alpert noted, "Telltale and Skybound have a rich history of innovative storytelling in video games, dating back over a decade. With this investment, we're reaffirming our commitment to the power of narrative gaming, enabling Telltale to craft even more captivating stories." Since its revival in 2019 by LCG Entertainment, Telltale has been dedicated to creating a stable and healthy work environment, as emphasized by Ottilie in a 2019 interview with IGN.
