EA Nears £488m Agreement with Premier League for Future Football Games

According to recent reports, Electronic Arts is on the verge of securing a significant partnership with the Premier League, enabling the company to feature the league's teams in its upcoming EA Sports FC series. The deal, valued at approximately £488 million, is expected to span six years. This development was reportedly shared with the 20 Premier League clubs on Friday, with the partnership poised to be finalized soon. The terms of the agreement are said to be double the amount of the existing contract between EA and the Premier League for the use of the league's teams in the FIFA game series. By securing this deal, Electronic Arts would maintain its position as the league's primary partner and gain exclusive video game rights. This news follows the announcement last year that EA and FIFA would be ending their nearly three-decade-long partnership, allegedly due to FIFA's desire to substantially increase licensing costs. As a result, FIFA 23, released in 2022, will be the final FIFA game published by EA, with subsequent releases being rebranded as EA Sports FC.
