Nintendo Unveils Exciting Lineup in Latest Direct Presentation

The inaugural Nintendo Direct of the year took place recently, showcasing a plethora of release dates, unexpected announcements, and an in-depth look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The trailer for the Breath of the Wild sequel featured extensive gameplay, while Nintendo reaffirmed the May 12th release date and confirmed the previously reported $69.99 price tag. Other notable announcements included the introduction of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, the launch of Metroid Prime Remastered, and a sneak peek at Pikmin 4 ahead of its July release. A new Professor Layton game was also confirmed, along with various other titles. Key announcements from the Nintendo Direct include: Pikmin 4, set to launch on July 21st, will feature a dog-like creature to aid players in directing Pikmin. Advance Wars 1+2: ReBoot Camp, initially delayed, will now release on April 21st. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can access a range of Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles, including Zelda: Link's Awakening DX and Tetris. Game Boy Advance games, such as the original WarioWare and Mario Kart Super Circuit, are available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscribers. A remastered version of Metroid Prime has been released, featuring a new control scheme. Samba de Amigo: Party Central, a rhythm action game and sequel to the 1999 Dreamcast title, will launch this summer. Capcom will release a remastered Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective this summer. A new Professor Layton game, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, is in development and set for release this year. Level-5's Decapolice, a sci-fi RPG, and The Girl Who Steals Time, a new entry in the Fantasy Life series, will both launch before the end of 2023. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon will release on March 17th. Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, a narrative adventure by Don't Nod, will launch this year. Disney Illusion Island, a Mickey Mouse platformer, will release on July 28th. We Love Katamari ReRoll + Royal Reverie, a remastered Katamari title, will launch on June 2nd. The first three Etrian Odyssey games will be available on Switch on June 1st, either individually or as part of the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection. A demo for Kirby's Return To Dream Land DX is now available, ahead of its February 24th launch. The first two Baten Kaitos games will receive HD remasters, launching this summer. Other showcased titles include Octopath Traveler 2, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC, Tron Identity, Omega Strike, Sea of Stars, and Fashion Dream. Nintendo also revealed details on four games that will receive DLC via expansion passes in the coming year, including Mario Kart 8 DX, Splatoon 3, Fire Emblem Engage, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
