Former Ubisoft Developers Head Up Krafton's New AAA Studio in Montreal
Krafton, the developer and publisher behind PUBG, has launched its first Canadian studio, Krafton Montreal, led by studio head Patrik Méthé, a veteran of Ubisoft. The team is currently working on a video game adaptation of The Bird That Drinks Tears, a popular series of South Korean fantasy novels. With 12 staff members currently employed, the studio plans to grow to 150 people over the next three years, adding to Montreal's competitive development scene. The team includes experienced developers such as producer Benoit Frappier, project manager Kate Lee, technology director Martin Paradis, game director Frédéric Duroc, and art director Kwangjae Son. Méthé was first contacted by Krafton eight months ago to build a team around the IP, and after meeting with management in South Korea, he became the first member of the Krafton Montreal team. The studio's focus is on creating a high-quality game that brings the unique world of The Bird That Drinks Tears to life, with a diverse team and a rich, established literary universe to draw from.
