Fingersoft Adopts Six-Hour Workday Policy
Finnish mobile gaming studio Fingersoft has introduced a new policy offering employees the option to work six-hour days, with a salary adjustment to 90% of their full pay. The decision follows an experiment conducted throughout 2021 and 2022, where approximately half of the studio's 110 employees participated in either a four-day workweek or a six-hour workday, five days a week. The results, analyzed by a third-party, showed that the six-hour days yielded more benefits for staff. As a result, Fingersoft has chosen to implement this schedule permanently. According to CEO Jaakko Kylmäoja, the trial demonstrated that employee well-being could be significantly improved without compromising productivity. In fact, the company observed that happier employees contribute more valuable work and positively impact the workplace atmosphere. By providing this new benefit, Fingersoft aims to help employees strike a better balance between work and personal life.
