UK Boxed Charts See Notable Shifts Following TV Show Launch
The UK Boxed Charts have a new number one title, with Nintendo's turn-based strategy RPG Fire Emblem Engage taking the top spot. Despite its launch sales being 31% lower than its predecessor, Fire Emblem Three Houses, the game has still secured the second-biggest launch for the series in the UK, surpassing the cult hit Fire Emblem Awakening. The new game's anime-style graphics may have contributed to its relatively lower Western appeal. FIFA 23 has dropped to second place, experiencing a 21% decline in sales, while God of War Ragnarok has fallen to third with a 26% drop. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe remains at number four, seeing a 3% increase in sales, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 rounds out the top five, despite a 29% decline in sales. The Last of Us Part 1 has seen a significant surge, re-entering the charts at number 20 with a 238% increase in sales, attributed to the recently launched TV series based on the game. The PS4 version, The Last of Us: Remastered, has also re-entered the charts at number 32, with a 322% sales spike. Other notable risers include Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, which has jumped to number 12 with a 104% sales increase due to discounted pricing, and Battlefield 2042, which has returned to the charts at number 25 with a 177% sales rise after being sold for £10 at select retailers.
