European Video Game Sales Decline by 7.1% in 2022
European video game sales experienced a decline of 7.1% in 2022, with 159 million console and PC games sold across tracked European markets. Despite this, new game sales saw a 16% increase compared to 2021. The top-selling games included FIFA 23, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Pokémon, and Elden Ring. The UK emerged as Europe's largest gaming market, followed by Germany and France. Console sales also saw a decline, with the Nintendo Switch leading the market despite a 15% drop in sales. The PS5 and Xbox Series S and X consoles followed, with the Xbox Series S and X being the only platform to report a sales growth year-on-year.
