Frontier Developments announced a set of record-breaking financial results in its latest June trading update, highlighting an extraordinary performance across the board for the fiscal year 2026. The company disclosed that its adjusted operating profit climbed dramatically by 62 percent, reaching a historic high of £21.4 million. This figure represents the strongest profit level the studio has ever recorded since its inception. The British‑based developer attributed this impressive uplift to three core drivers: solid trading performance across its flagship titles, disciplined control of operating expenses, and the benefit of larger tax and expenditure credits than in previous years.

In its statement, Frontier emphasized that, even without the one‑off £3.9 million windfall earned from the sale of publishing rights in the prior financial year, the adjusted operating profit would still have more than doubled compared with the previous period. This underscores the sustainability of the underlying business momentum. Revenue also showed robust growth, rising 16 percent to £104.8 million.

The increase was largely powered by continued strong sales of the Jurassic World Evolution 3 franchise as well as the enduring popularity of the Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo series. These titles have built sizable, dedicated player communities that generate recurring income through expansions, downloadable content, and in‑game microtransactions, further bolstering the top line. Operating profit, which includes all costs before interest and taxes, surged by 97 percent to £25.0 million. Frontier explained that this surge reflected not only the solid underlying trading performance but also a one‑off transitional tax credit of £4.4 million that was recognised in the accounts.

The company highlighted that the combination of organic growth and strategic fiscal optimisation has placed it on a solid financial footing. In addition to the financial highlights, Frontier announced several key leadership changes aimed at strengthening its commercial capabilities. Dan Lazarides was appointed as chief marketing officer in the previous month, bringing extensive experience in brand strategy and community engagement to the role.

Meanwhile, founder and long‑time president David Braben will transition to a non‑executive director position on 1 October 2026, while retaining his titles as president and founder. Braben’s shift allows him to focus on broader strategic oversight and mentorship of the executive team. Strategic partnerships also featured prominently in the update. Frontier recently sealed an agreement with Disney to co‑develop and publish a new title that will draw upon Disney’s extensive portfolio of intellectual property.

The collaboration is expected to open new revenue streams and expand the studio’s reach into family‑friendly and franchise‑driven markets. Looking ahead to the product pipeline, Frontier confirmed that Planet Zoo 2 is slated for launch on 13 October 2026. The sequel promises expanded wildlife management features, deeper simulation mechanics, and enhanced visual fidelity, building on the strong community feedback received for the original game.

Additionally, the studio revealed that Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch will be released before the close of FY27, adding a tactical, narrative‑driven experience to its catalogue. A major focus of Frontier’s long‑term strategy is its content management system (CMS) game line, which leverages the company’s own intellectual property.

The studio reported that development of the next CMS title is well underway and remains on schedule. Frontier aims to deliver, on average, one new CMS game each year, creating a steady stream of fresh content that can be cross‑promoted across its existing franchises and help sustain player engagement over the long term. CEO Jo Cooke summed up the year by describing FY26 as a “landmark year” for Frontier.

She highlighted the record financial performance, the validation of the CMS strategy, and the continued investment in world‑class franchises that nurture vibrant player communities and drive long‑term engagement. Cooke added that the company’s strong balance sheet, talented workforce, and ambitious roadmap position it well to achieve sustainable growth, deliver lasting value to players, and generate solid returns for shareholders.

President David Braben echoed this optimism, expressing pride in the achievements of the teams since he founded Frontier in 1994. He praised Jo Cooke’s leadership and expressed confidence that she, together with the broader executive team, will build on the solid foundations laid over the past three decades. Braben noted that his transition to a non‑executive role will allow him to concentrate on areas where he can add the most value, such as overseeing game development and supporting the company’s strategic direction.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to supporting Frontier and its leadership in the years ahead. Overall, Frontier Developments’ FY26 results demonstrate a potent combination of creative excellence, disciplined financial management, and strategic expansion. The company’s ability to generate record profits while investing in new IP, forging high‑profile partnerships, and expanding its portfolio suggests a bright outlook for the coming years, with multiple high‑profile releases and a clear focus on delivering consistent, high‑quality experiences for its global player base.
