Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Achieves 3 Million Sales in Japan

In November 2022, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet dominated Japanese retail sales, selling approximately 3.1 million physical copies between its launch date and the month's end, according to Famitsu data. This performance exceeded the launch period of Pokémon: Arceus, which sold around 2.1 million units in its first month. Notably, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is also the fastest-selling Nintendo console game, with 10 million copies sold globally within 72 hours. Other top-selling games include Splatoon 3, Tactics Ogre: Reborn, and God of War: Ragnarok, which reached fourth place with 43,000 units sold in Japan. Sonic Frontiers also made a notable entry into the top ten, selling over 35,000 copies on the Switch. The total sales of physical games in Japan for November were 4.2 million units, with Pokémon accounting for 73% of all sales. The Switch platform accounted for 93% of physical game sales, with Sony consoles making up the remaining 6%. In terms of hardware, the Switch Lite saw a significant sales boost, making up 13.6% of all hardware sales, while the Switch OLED model accounted for over 50% of all units sold.
