Starbreeze Expands with New UK-Based Studio

Starbreeze, the renowned developer behind Payday 2, is launching a brand-new studio in the United Kingdom. This expansion aims to bolster the company's development and publishing capabilities, particularly for its recently acquired IPs. Tancred Dyke-Wells and Lawrence Bishop, co-founders of Cinder Cone, will spearhead the new studio as creative director and technical director, respectively. The primary focus of the UK studio will be on developing and publishing the newly acquired IPs, as well as exploring future projects. According to Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren, "The establishment of this new studio in the UK enables us to tap into the region's exceptional gaming talent, allowing us to create engaging experiences for our fans worldwide." This move follows the company's recent announcement to revive its third-party publishing arm, which had been dormant since 2019. Starbreeze has also partnered with Walking Tree Games to publish the strategy game The Tribe Must Survive, slated for release next year. Despite currently operating at a loss, as per the company's latest financial report, development of Payday 3 remains on track for a 2023 launch.
