Sony to Boost Chinese Game Development with Expanded Incubator
Sony is set to enhance its initiative supporting game development in China, with plans to invest over 1 million yuan in individual projects. The PlayStation China Hero Project, now entering its third season, will benefit game development teams of all sizes. According to Sony's director of China game production, Bao Bo, the upcoming season will significantly outdo the previous two, with PlayStation Studios providing additional support to participating projects. Sony will also be publishing several games, including Lost Soul Aside and Convallia, which were part of the project's second season. Since its inception in 2017, the China Hero Project has backed 17 titles, with seven already released and another slated for release in Q2 2023. This move comes as Microsoft is also stepping up its efforts to acquire Chinese games, following the success of titles like Genshin Impact on PlayStation.
