Gaming Deals Reach $37 Billion from Q1 to Q3, InvestGame Reports
According to a recent report by InvestGame, the total value of video game deals from the first quarter to the third quarter of 2022 reached $37 billion. This figure was compiled from 246 completed transactions, including private investments, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings. The five largest gaming deals during this period were highlighted, including Take-Two's $12.7 billion acquisition of Zynga in January, Sony's $3.6 billion purchase of Bungie, also in January, Embracer's $3 billion acquisition of Asmodee in December 2021, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund's $2.7 billion purchase of a 5% stake in Nintendo in May, and Joffre Capital's $2.2 billion acquisition of a minority stake in Playtika in June. Furthermore, the report identified Bitkraft Ventures, Galaxy Interactive, Makers Fund, and Griffin Gaming Partners as the most active venture capital firms in gaming deals, with participation in 21, 15, and 10 deals, respectively, for the top two and tied firms.
