Rollic Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of Popcore
Rollic, a subsidiary of Zynga, has revealed the acquisition of Popcore, a mobile game development studio. Established by Thomas and Johannes Heinze in 2018, Popcore has developed popular titles including Pull the Pin, Scavenger Hunt, and Tap Away. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for Rollic as it continues to bolster its hypercasual gaming portfolio. "By joining forces, we can create more engaging and immersive gaming experiences that foster lasting connections with our users," stated Burak Vardal, CEO of Rollic. "The merger also brings together a unique blend of new and long-term users from both Rollic and Popcore, creating a robust and diverse player base." This move follows a series of strategic acquisitions by Zynga and Rollic, including the purchase of mobile studio NanoTribe earlier this year. Additionally, in September, the gaming company completed its acquisition of Storemaven, a mobile platform.
