Landmark Games Secures $4.6 Million in Funding for Cooperative Game Sea of Souls
Landmark Games has successfully raised $4.6 million in its seed funding round, with plans to utilize the funds to expand its debut cooperative mobile game, Sea of Souls, and increase its studio staff to 20 members. The investment round was co-led by Project A Ventures and InReach Ventures, with additional participation from existing investors, including Moonfire Ventures, Concept Ventures, as well as angel investors Nick Button-Brown and Kartik Prabhakara. Founded in 2021 by CEO Dave Burpitt, Technical Director Jonathan Chisholm, and Creative Director James Older - all former Big Pixel Studios team members, known for developing Pocket Mortys - Landmark Games is committed to redefining the gaming experience. According to Burpitt, the goal is to revolutionize the way gamers interact by eliminating the fear of being outplayed or dominated by friends, instead focusing on creating an enjoyable and inclusive gaming environment. He emphasized that there are billions of potential players who are drawn to fast-paced action and social experiences but are deterred by the intensely competitive atmosphere. By adopting a unique approach, Landmark Games is poised to capture this vast market and is currently at the forefront of this movement.
