Google Play for PC Expands to Seven New Regions Including the US

Google has expanded the reach of its Google Play for PC service to seven additional countries. The service, which enables users to play Google Play store games on their desktop computers, is now in open beta in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore. Initially launched as a limited test in South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and Australia at the beginning of the year, the Google Play for PC beta was later opened to all players in these regions in August. According to Google Play Games director Arjun Dayal, "The expansion of our platform to more markets allows players to enjoy their favorite games on Google Play. As we approach a full release, we will continue to add new features and gather feedback from developers and players." This expansion comes after Google shut down its cloud-based game streaming service, Stadia, in September.
