Rovio Expands to Barcelona with New Office
Rovio, the renowned studio behind Angry Birds, is establishing a new office in Barcelona, Spain, to collaborate on existing titles. The Barcelona team will work in close conjunction with Rovio's Finnish headquarters, providing development support for games such as Angry Birds Friends and Dream Blast. According to Rovio, Barcelona offers a vibrant pool of mobile gaming talent, although the exact location of the new office has not been disclosed. The team will be overseen by Matthieu Burleraux, senior director of live operations. "This move represents a significant step forward in our growth strategy," stated Andy Muesse, head of studios at Rovio. "By establishing a presence in southern Europe, we can substantially broaden our recruitment opportunities and tap into a fresh talent pool. I'm eager to welcome our new colleagues in Spain." This development follows the opening of Rovio's Toronto office last October, where the team is working on a new free-to-play project.
