Miniclip Website Remains Operational

Despite reports suggesting the contrary, Miniclip has confirmed that its website and game servers are still active. The company had announced earlier in the year that it would be scaling back its web-based game offerings to concentrate on mobile development. In correspondence with GamesIndustry.biz, Miniclip verified that it has not decommissioned any servers, instead opting to transition the majority of its games to mobile platforms. The company's website has undergone changes, but classic titles like Agar.io and 8 Ball Pool remain accessible and will continue to be available. As stated in a July FAQ, "The transformation of Miniclip.com represents a significant milestone in our journey, with most players already having migrated to mobile to enjoy their favorite games, including Agar.io and Soccer Stars." Miniclip also clarified that games not developed in-house, which are licensed to other developers, will see their partnerships terminated as part of the website's evolution. However, these developers are at liberty to decide the fate of their games, provided they adhere to the terms of their publishing agreements. This development comes as Miniclip continues to evolve its business strategy, a topic discussed during its 20th-anniversary celebrations last year, where the shift from web-based games to mobile-centric development was highlighted.
