Netflix Expands Gaming Division with New Studio and Cloud Gaming Exploration

Netflix is bolstering its gaming efforts with the launch of its fifth in-house studio, to be headed by former Overwatch executive producer Chacko Sonny, and is actively exploring the possibility of introducing a cloud gaming service. The company's vice president of gaming, Mike Verdu, shared these developments during a session at TechCrunch Disrupt, emphasizing that any cloud gaming offering would serve as an added value to their platform, rather than a replacement for traditional gaming consoles. Currently, Netflix has a slate of 55 games in various stages of development, with the goal of having half of these titles based on its own original IP. This move underscores Netflix's commitment to expanding its presence in the gaming industry, following the establishment of a new studio in Finland and the acquisition of several game development studios over the past year.
