Unveiling the Winners of the 2022 Canada Best Places To Work Awards
The recipients of the 2022 Canada GamesIndustry.biz Best Places To Work Awards have been announced. The awards ceremony aims to improve working conditions in the gaming industry and is determined by a comprehensive employee survey, details of which can be found here. The 16 winners, along with several special awardees, were revealed during a 35-minute online event. EA secured the most wins, with EA Full Circle and EA Motive both receiving awards. Additionally, EA Canada claimed the Corporate Social Responsibility Award. Other notable winners include Behaviour Interactive, which won The Education Award for the second consecutive year. Relic Entertainment took home The Health and Wellbeing Award, while Virtuos secured The Environmental Award. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award was awarded to Affordance Studio. Jean-Sylvain Sormany, head of Snowed In Studios, was named Canada's Best Boss after garnering a substantial number of nominations. The awards precede the Canadian business event MEGAMIGS, which, in partnership with La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec, supports the Canada Best Places To Work Awards. The top-scoring small companies, with 10-50 employees, are Affordance Studio, A Shell In The Pit, Lowbirth Games, Manavoid, Purple Is Royal, Timbre Games, Virtuos, and Yellow Brick Games. The leading mid-sized companies, with 50-200 employees, include Compulsion Games, EA Full Circle, Frima, and Hyper Hippo. The best large companies, with over 200 employees, are Behaviour Interactive, EA Motive, Gearbox Québec, and Relic Entertainment. In addition to the badge winners, several special awards were presented. The winners of these categories include: The Health & Wellbeing Award, won by Relic Entertainment; The Corporate Social Responsibility Award, won by Electronic Arts; The Environmental Award, won by Virtuos; The Education Award, won by Behaviour Interactive; and the Canada Best Boss Award, won by Jean-Sylvain Sormany of Snowed In Studio.
