Activision Blizzard Embroiled in New Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

A recent lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by a former employee, alleging instances of sexual harassment. According to reports, the plaintiff, who remains anonymous, claims that a product manager at the company made unwanted sexual advances and threats of blackmail. The manager in question, Miguel Vega, allegedly had compromising photos of the plaintiff from a prior online relationship and used these to threaten her. The lawsuit states that Vega made multiple threats, including one where he said, "Maybe I'll use those pictures to blackmail you, so you'll leave your husband and come live with me." The most recent threat reportedly occurred in August 2021, shortly after the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, accusing the company of fostering a culture of harassment and discrimination against women. Following the plaintiff's report of the blackmail threat, Vega was terminated from his position the next month. However, the lawsuit argues that the company's delayed response to Vega's behavior constitutes tacit acceptance. The plaintiff is seeking damages and calling for the removal of Activision Blizzard's CEO, Bobby Kotick. In response, an Activision Blizzard spokesperson stated, "We take all employee concerns seriously. Upon receiving the plaintiff's report, we immediately launched an investigation, resulting in Mr. Vega's termination within 10 days. We have zero tolerance for such misconduct." Attempts to reach Vega for comment were unsuccessful.
