GTA 5 Overtakes Saints Row in European August Charts

The latest Saints Row game narrowly lost the top spot to Grand Theft Auto 5 in the European August charts, a position that GTA 5 also held in August 2021. Despite new releases such as Saints Row, Spider-Man Remastered, and Two Point Campus, game sales decreased by 12.4% compared to the same period last year. A total of 7.7 million video games were sold across Europe, with GTA 5 leading digital sales and Nintendo Switch Sports topping physical sales. The Nintendo Switch maintained its lead over PlayStation in European console sales, with 310,000 consoles sold, representing a 19% decline from August 2021. The PS5 had its second-best month, while the Xbox Series S and X saw their fourth-best month. In accessories, the PS5 DualSense controller remained the top seller, with 1.18 million add-on products sold, a 9% decrease from the previous year. Points and wallet cards also saw a decline of 5%.
