Former Sony Executive Shawn Layden Appointed as Strategic Advisor at Tencent

Veteran PlayStation executive Shawn Layden has taken on the role of strategic advisor at Tencent. In a LinkedIn announcement, Layden expressed his enthusiasm for advising and supporting the Tencent team as they expand their gaming industry presence. He noted, 'The gaming and interactive entertainment landscape is at a pivotal moment, with multiple paths forward, but only a select few that are transformative, inclusive, and sustainable.' Layden previously discussed the gaming industry's 'third epoch' in an interview, where he also emphasized the importance of diversity over consolidation. Following his departure from Sony in 2019, Layden has held various consulting positions, including a role on the advisory board of Streamline Media Group.
