The upcoming AGDQ 2023 speedrunning marathon will be held exclusively online, as announced by Awesome Games Done Quick. This decision was made in response to Florida's recent introduction of anti-trans legislation, as well as the state's handling of COVID-19 safety protocols. In a statement on Twitter, the organization expressed concerns over the state's disregard for COVID-19 safety and its hostile stance towards the LGBTQ+ community, including the enactment of the 'Don't Say Gay' law. As a result, AGDQ 2023 will take place virtually from January 8 to January 15.
Earlier this year, Awesome Games Done Quick successfully raised $3.4 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
