Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion Exclusively Coming to Next-Gen Consoles and PC

CD Projekt has adopted a single-expansion approach for Cyberpunk 2077. As part of its half-year financial report, the company announced the launch of its sole expansion, Phantom Liberty, scheduled for next year. This upcoming add-on will be exclusive to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, leaving behind players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The company has assured that Cyberpunk 2077 will remain playable, with ongoing technical support across all platforms. Although Phantom Liberty will be the only major expansion, CD Projekt's senior VP of business development, Michał Nowakowski, indicated the company's commitment to further developing the Cyberpunk franchise, exploring new narratives, experiences, and content beyond the current expansion. Nowakowski stated, 'We are dedicated to building upon the Cyberpunk IP, investing in new stories and formats that extend beyond the videogame sphere.' The publisher also provided an update on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3, confirming its release in the fourth quarter of this year. CD Projekt's financial report showed a 20% decline in net sales to PLN 378 million ($80.2 million) for the first half of the year, attributed to a challenging comparison with the post-launch sales of Cyberpunk 2077 from the previous year. Despite this decline, the company reported a 33% increase in profits to PLN 154 million ($32.7 million) and a notable improvement in its GOG digital storefront division, which transformed from a PLN 4.5 million ($955,000) loss to a PLN 353,000 ($75,000) profit.
