Denuvo Introduces Anti-Emulation Solution for Nintendo Switch

Denuvo has launched a new technology aimed at combating video game piracy on the Nintendo Switch. The company emphasizes that players must purchase a genuine copy of a game to play it. The Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection system checks a game's code to prevent playback on emulators, without affecting legitimate gameplay. According to Denuvo, this solution enables studios to boost revenue during the critical game launch period by blocking unauthorized emulations on PC. Although the extent of Switch game emulation is unknown, Denuvo notes that online forums discussing Switch piracy are readily accessible. The company's anti-piracy measures have faced criticism in the past, including issues with offline play and potential performance impacts on games like Sonic Mania, Rime, and Tekken 7. Previous reports have also highlighted instances where cracked game versions outperformed their DRM-protected counterparts, such as with Resident Evil Village.
