Embracer Reports 107% Surge in Net Sales for Q1

Embracer Group has unveiled its Q1 financial results, showcasing a remarkable 107% rise in net sales, driven by its aggressive acquisition strategy. For the quarter ending June 31, the company reported net sales of SEK 7.1 billion ($682 million), a significant increase from SEK 3.4 billion ($298 million) in the same period last year, largely fueled by inorganic growth from recent subsidiaries. The mobile games segment experienced the most substantial growth, with sales skyrocketing 104% to SEK 1.4 billion ($134 million), thanks to the contributions of Easybrain and the acquisition of CrazyLabs in August 2021. The entertainment and services segment also saw a 44% increase to SEK 671 million ($64.4 million), primarily driven by the acquisition of Dark Horse in December last year. Although Embracer's organic growth was -12% for the quarter, the company anticipates 20-35% organic growth for the remainder of the year, buoyed by the launch of Saints Row and Gearbox's royalties from Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Embracer has also announced a new wave of acquisitions, including the IP rights to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit franchises, Killing Floor developer Tripwire, Teardown maker Tuxedo Labs, publisher Limited Run Games, and another unannounced acquisition, totaling SEK 6 billion ($576 million) upfront.
