Remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Put on Indefinite Hold

The remake of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic by Aspyr Media has been put on hold with no end date in sight. According to a report by Bloomberg, the decision to pause development stems from the departure of two high-ranking directors, Jason Minor and Brad Prince. The game, first announced last year, has been in development for three years. In June, a demo was completed with the intention of showcasing it to partners Lucasfilm and Sony. However, the demo did not meet the expectations of the studio's leadership, leading to the indefinite halt of the game's development. Sources indicate that significant time and resources were invested in the demo, and the current direction of the game was deemed unsustainable. Additionally, the release schedule for the game had been a point of contention. Initially, Aspyr had informed employees and partners that the game would be released by the end of 2022, with a potential new target release window set for 2025. Aspyr Media has been contacted for comment.
