UK Gaming Scene Sees Boost in September with EA Sports FC 25, Space Marine 2, and Astro Bot Leading the Charge

September saw a notable 8% increase in game sales in the UK, with 3.88 million PC and console games sold, according to data from GSD. This uptick is largely attributed to the introduction of six new titles in the Top Ten. EA Sports FC 25 took the top spot, despite a 4.6% decline in launch sales compared to the previous year. However, the premium early access edition performed better year-over-year. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 secured the second position, marking a phenomenal performance as the third best-selling new game of the year. The Crew 2, discounted to under £1, saw a massive surge in sales, landing it in the third position. Star Wars Outlaws, at number four, had a disappointing start, tracking slightly behind Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Astro Bot rounded out the top five, with a strong start for Sony's platformer, seeing a 24% increase in its first four weeks of sales compared to Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Other notable releases included NBA 2K25, which tracked 14% behind the previous year's title, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which posted sales 14% below Link's Awakening remake after one week, based on physical sales alone. In console sales, over 126,000 units were sold, with the PS5 leading the pack, followed by Xbox Series S and X, and then Nintendo Switch. The PS5 All-Digital console had its second-best month, and as the year progresses, console sales are down 32% compared to 2023. Accessory sales saw over 743,000 products sold, an 11% increase over the previous year, with the Midnight Black DualSense controller taking the top spot, and the DualSense Astro Bot limited edition controller entering at number ten. The Playstation Portal Remote Player remains a top accessory by revenue, with the PS5 Disc Drive also making a significant appearance by revenue.
