Hasbro Expands Digital Presence with Diverse Gaming Portfolio
A year after the release of Baldur's Gate 3, Hasbro and its subsidiary Wizards of the Coast are intensifying their focus on video games, with a vast array of IPs being developed across multiple genres. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz at Gamescom, Eugene Evans stated that while AAA games are in development, the company is also exploring alternative expressions of Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering beyond traditional RPGs. Evans cited Magic: The Gathering Arena as an example of the company's digital endeavors, as well as collaborations with established games like Destiny 2 and Dead By Daylight. With 80 live games and active contracts, and 40 games in development, Hasbro is poised to release a diverse range of titles over the next two to three years, including mobile games and larger PC and console projects. The company's extensive portfolio of IPs, which includes Transformers, Monopoly, and Clue, is being leveraged to mitigate risk and create successful games in a turbulent market.
