Take-Two Expects Temporary Boost in Game Pass Subscriptions Due to Call of Duty
According to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, the addition of a high-profile game like Call of Duty to Game Pass will likely attract consumers to the subscription service, at least in the short term. However, this development does not influence Take-Two's strategy, as the company's decisions are guided by economic rationality. Zelnick expressed this view in an interview, stating that while the inclusion of premium titles in subscription services may drive temporary growth, it does not alter the company's overall approach. Take-Two has been cautious about releasing new AAA games on subscription services, opting instead to support these platforms with legacy titles. The company's financial results show modest growth, with some of its core properties experiencing slower growth than expected. Despite this, Zelnick is confident that Take-Two is well-positioned for the current market, having implemented cost-cutting measures and focusing on efficiency. The company is looking forward to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, expected to be the largest entertainment launch in history, and has a strong pipeline of upcoming titles, including 15 'immersive core' games and several mobile releases.
