Star Wars Outlaws Remains the Most Anticipated Game of 2024

Following a month filled with major video game announcements, Star Wars Outlaws continues to hold its position as the most wishlisted game of 2024 on IGN. The upcoming Ubisoft title has garnered the second-highest number of additions to IGN Playlist over the past year and ranks as the second most wishlisted game overall, surpassed only by Grand Theft Auto 6, which is slated for release in 2025. In June, however, Star Wars Outlaws dropped to 17th place in the wishlist rankings, largely due to the slew of new game reveals that took place during the month. The most wishlisted game for June was The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which made a surprise appearance during the previous month's Nintendo Direct. This Nintendo Switch title outperformed other notable games such as Doom: The Dark Ages, Mario & Luigi Brothership, Gears of Wars: E-Day, and Astro Bot, which rounded out the top five. The success of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom in June propelled it into the top ten most wishlisted games over the last twelve months, reaching the ninth spot. Another notable achievement is the performance of new IP Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which managed to break into the top ten for June at number nine, surpassing several major titles. The turn-based RPG was unveiled during Xbox's Summer Showcase at the beginning of June. Further insights can be gleaned from IGN Playlist, including the fact that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the most backlogged game among IGN users for both June and all time. 'Backlog' refers to games that players have not yet started but intend to play at some point. Established titles such as Fallout 4, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Cyberpunk 2077 also feature prominently in the backlog list. In terms of completion rates, Red Dead Redemption 2 topped the list for June, followed by GTA 5 and Elden Ring. Conversely, the games that players abandoned most frequently in June were Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Apex Legends, and Genshin Impact. IGN Playlist serves as a tracker for backlogged games and play activity, accessible both on the web and through a mobile app.
