OV Entertainment Embarks on a Mission to Unite Latin American Gaming Companies with Strategic Acquisitions
OV Entertainment Group has made its inaugural acquisitions, purchasing Brazilian game developer Kokku and Argentinian tech specialist 3OGS, marking the beginning of its quest to unify Latin American gaming companies and accelerate their growth. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz during Gamescom Latam in São Paulo, key executives outlined the group's vision, which was conceived by Thiago de Freitas, founder of Kokku and now CEO of OV Entertainment. De Freitas explained that the idea was born out of a series of acquisition offers for Kokku, one of Brazil's largest studios with AAA development experience. Instead of selling, De Freitas decided to create a group that would unite Latin American companies, leveraging his understanding of the local culture, politics, and laws to foster growth. The acquisition of 3OGS, a tech specialist from Argentina, is seen as a strategic move to elevate other companies in the group, providing them with access to resources and investment. According to De Freitas, Kokku's reputation and established contacts will help other companies in the group, such as 3OGS, which was struggling to find better clients and reach new markets due to limited investment. 3OGS co-CEO Pablo Navajas expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating that it aligns with the company's ambitions and will enable them to accelerate their growth. The group aims to go beyond video game development, exploring opportunities in film, TV, and other areas. With its parent company registered in the UK, OV Entertainment plans to access capital and operate with a global focus while maintaining operational independence for its acquired companies.
