Renaissance PR: Fostering Success Through Personal Connections
It has been nearly a decade since Stefano Petrullo founded Renaissance PR, and the agency's growth has been remarkable. Petrullo, well-known in the UK games industry for his work with Ubisoft, made a successful transition to independence. Since then, Renaissance has worked with almost 100 clients, including industry giants like Atari, Plaion, and Tencent, as well as indie developers like Bulkhead and Curve. In 2023, the agency promoted 150 titles, generating over 122,000 articles that reached more than 518 billion people. It also collaborated with content creators to promote 23 games, resulting in 3,600 videos viewed over 38 million times. The team now consists of 12 employees and has been nominated for two MCV Awards. After being acquired by global super agency 1SP, Renaissance aims to retain its unique identity while expanding its reach. Petrullo attributes the agency's success to its passion, experience, and data-driven approach. He emphasizes the importance of working with people, not brands, and building relationships with media and influencers. Renaissance has worked with both high-profile clients and smaller teams, and Petrullo advises indie developers to trust their agency and focus on storytelling rather than just chasing data. He also stresses the need for coordinated campaigns between marketing, PR, influencers, and community engagement. Despite his self-proclaimed 'imposter syndrome,' Petrullo remains optimistic about the games industry's future, predicting a healthier market and a stronger, more selective industry. He expects an increase in AAA releases in 2025 and a trend towards more AA games due to the rising costs of blockbuster productions.
