Fallout 4 Leaps to Top Spot in Europe Following TV Series Debut
European sales of Fallout games have surged, with Fallout 4 regaining its position as the number one game. The 2015 title saw a staggering 7,500% increase in sales across Europe week-over-week, according to GSD data which tracks digital sales across all European markets and physical sales in key countries including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. This significant boost is largely due to deep discounts on Fallout games across all platforms, a move designed to coincide with the launch of the Fallout TV series, which has become a huge success on Amazon Prime. The majority of Fallout 4 sales for the week were on PC, accounting for 69% of total sales, with the remainder split between PlayStation and Xbox. Notably, the game is available for free to Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers, data which is not included in these figures, and it's also accessible to Amazon Luna users. Meanwhile, Fallout 76 ranks eighth, with 85% of its sales on PC, and it's also available on Game Pass and PS Plus. Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 follow closely, ranking ninth and tenth respectively. Further down the charts, the Fallout Classic Collection climbed to 43rd, Fallout 2 reached 57th, and the original Fallout landed at 70th. Given the ongoing popularity of the Fallout TV series, it's likely these games will remain popular for some time. The GSD digital data encompasses sales from participating companies through platforms like Steam, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and Nintendo Eshop, including major companies such as Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, and Microsoft, among others. Digital data covers sales in numerous European countries, while physical data focuses on key markets.
