European Gaming Market Sees Strong Sales in October, Driven by Assassin's Creed, Spider-Man, and Mario
The European gaming market witnessed a slight decline of 2.3% in sales, with 10.21 million PC and console games sold, according to data from GSD. Despite this, the sales figures remain impressive, considering the lack of a major Call of Duty release in October. EA Sports FC 24 emerged as the top-selling game, although its sales were 10% lower than FIFA 23's sales last year. Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Mirage secured the second spot, narrowly beating Spider-Man 2, while Super Mario Bros Wonder trailed behind in fourth place. The PS5 console saw a significant surge in sales, up 143% from the previous year, driven by improved stock availability. In terms of individual markets, EA Sports FC 24 dominated most countries, but the second-best selling game varied, with Super Mario Bros Wonder leading in France, Assassin's Creed: Mirage in Germany, and Spider-Man 2 in Italy and Spain. The overall market sales saw a 16% increase compared to September, with PS5 sales rising by 11%, Switch sales by 10%, and Xbox sales declining by 20%.
