Empowering Gamers to Create Their Own Adventures

Jordan Weisman, a veteran entrepreneur in the gaming industry, has founded Endless Adventures, a company that aims to merge his experience in tabletop gaming and video games. Weisman's latest endeavor, Adventure Forge, is a user-generated content platform that enables users to create narrative-focused games without needing to code. The platform will come with a built-in setting, Tales of Fortunata, which serves as a sourcebook, providing a rich environment for users to craft their own stories. Weisman's goal is to empower designers and artists to iterate quickly and independently, bypassing the need for engineers in the creative process. To achieve this, Adventure Forge uses a language-based approach, utilizing contextual dropdown menus, similar to Mad Libs, to communicate game logic. The platform is designed to be adaptable, allowing creators to produce a wide range of games, from hidden object games to puzzle games. Endless Adventures will operate on a business model similar to Roblox, where creators can monetize their games, and the company will take a cut of the proceeds. However, end customers will not need to pay for the platform, only for the experiences created by others. Weisman acknowledges the challenges of moderation on user-generated content platforms, and Endless Adventures is implementing a two-tiered approach, with a curated content store and a more open platform, where users can flag objectionable content. Weisman also shared his thoughts on the recent wave of mergers and acquisitions in the gaming industry, stating that acquisitions are a natural part of the lifecycle of game studios, but the key to success lies in understanding the culture of the companies involved and ensuring alignment on audience, monetization, and values.
