WWE 2K23 Takes the Top Spot in UK Boxed Charts, Ending Hogwarts Legacy's Reign

The UK's best-selling physical video game has a new champion, as WWE 2K23 has surpassed Hogwarts Legacy. However, WWE 2K23's boxed launch sales were 26% lower than those of its predecessor, WWE 2K22, which may have benefited from pent-up demand after a two-year hiatus. It's worth noting that this data only accounts for physical sales, and digital sales may help bridge the gap. The game's sales were predominantly on PS5, accounting for 53% of boxed sales, followed by PS4 at 23%, Xbox Series S and X at 15%, and Xbox One at 9%. The Xbox Series figure is expected to increase once digital data becomes available, partly due to the strong sales of the digital-only Xbox Series S console. Hogwarts Legacy has dropped to second place with a 24% decline in sales, while FIFA 23 ranks third with a 26% decrease. The next two spots are occupied by Nintendo Switch titles, both of which saw sales increases. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe experienced a 3% rise in sales but fell to fourth place, whereas Metroid Prime: Remastered saw a remarkable 24% sales increase in its third week, a feat uncommon for a recently released game, especially one targeting a hardcore audience. It's essential to consider that the game was available on Nintendo's digital store in February, so it has been on sale for longer through other channels. Super Mario Odyssey has re-entered the Top Ten at ninth place, with sales rising 55% last week and 40% this week, following the launch of a new Nintendo Switch hardware bundle coinciding with the upcoming Super Mario Bros movie. Other new releases include Nintendo's Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon at 21, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Azure by NIS America at 24, and Signalis from Humble Games at 27.
