Hogwarts Legacy Secures Fifth Consecutive Number One Spot, Surpassing Elden Ring's UK Sales

For the fifth week in a row, Hogwarts Legacy by Warner Bros has claimed the top spot in the UK boxed charts, despite a 31% decrease in sales compared to the previous week. The game has also ranked number one in the weekly digital data. Notably, after just five weeks, Hogwarts Legacy has surpassed the lifetime sales of Elden Ring in the UK, including both digital and physical copies. Elden Ring was a major hit last year, with sales only exceeded by FIFA 23, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, GTA 5, and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga by the end of 2022. With the upcoming release of digital data, Hogwarts Legacy is expected to surpass LEGO Star Wars sales. The game is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in May and June, which could further boost its sales, potentially even surpassing Call of Duty. The past week saw a lack of new game releases, resulting in significant changes to the charts. Metroid Prime Remastered, last week's highest new entry, dropped from second to fourth place with a substantial 79% decrease in sales. Other recent releases, such as Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Octopath Traveler 2, and Atomic Heart, also experienced significant declines in sales, ranging from 38% to 73%. In contrast, promotions for Mario games on 'Mario Day' (March 10th) led to increased sales, with Mario Kart 8: Deluxe returning to the top three, Super Mario Odyssey rising 13 places, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury climbing nine places. Additionally, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope has seen a steady increase in sales over the past three weeks, thanks to a new DLC expansion and a free demo, and is now ranked 16th with a 16% improvement in sales.
