UK Boxed Charts See Significant Shifts with New Launches and TV-Inspired Sales
The UK Boxed Charts have a new number one, with Nintendo's turn-based strategy RPG Fire Emblem Engage taking the top spot. Although its launch sales are 31% lower than those of its predecessor, Fire Emblem Three Houses, it still achieves the second biggest launch for the series in the UK, surpassing the sales of Fire Emblem Awakening. The game's anime-style graphics may have slightly limited its appeal in Western markets. FIFA 23 drops to second place with a 21% decline in sales, while God of War Ragnarok falls to third with a 26% drop. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe maintains its fourth position with a 3% increase in sales, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 rounds out the top five, despite a 29% slide in sales. The Last of Us Part 1 sees a significant 238% surge in sales, re-entering the charts at number 20, thanks to the new TV series based on the game. The PS4 version, The Last of Us: Remastered, also re-enters the charts at number 32 with a 322% sales spike. Other notable risers include Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, which jumps to number 12 with a 104% sales increase due to discounted prices, and Battlefield 2042, which returns to the charts at number 25 with a 177% sales rise after being sold for £10 at select retailers.
