European Video Game Market Sees 7.1% Decline in 2022

A total of 159 million console and PC games were sold across Europe in 2022, marking a 7.1% decline from the previous year. Despite this, sales of new games increased by 16% year-over-year. The UK emerged as Europe's largest gaming market, followed by Germany and France. FIFA 23 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 were among the top-selling games, with the former seeing a 3% increase in sales over its predecessor and the latter experiencing a 73% surge. The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console, although its sales fell by 15%. The Xbox Series S and X consoles were the only ones to report a year-over-year sales growth, at 4.4%. In terms of accessories, the PS5 DualSense controller was the top seller, with sales rising by 12%.
