The Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) has unveiled the first batch of participants for its newly launched Supernova incubation initiative, selecting a total of fifteen game studios from a pool of more than 260 applicants. This marks a significant milestone for the Indian gaming ecosystem, as the association seeks to nurture home‑grown talent and accelerate the growth of promising developers who are still in the pre‑revenue stage. Supernova, which officially kicked off in July 2026, is designed as a three‑month intensive program that offers a blend of mentorship, technical resources, industry credits, and strategic introductions to potential investors and publishing partners. At the conclusion of the program, the cohort will have the chance to showcase their projects at a dedicated Demo Day that will be held during this year’s India Game Developers Conference (IGDC), providing a high‑visibility platform for networking and funding opportunities.

The accelerator operates in close collaboration with a roster of prominent industry players, including Tencent, IVIPRO, SpielFabrique, Indus Appstore, Mintegral, and Lakshya Digital. In particular, Indus Appstore has pledged to give participating studios "priority onboarding and ad credits to kick‑start user acquisition," ensuring that each studio can begin building an audience as soon as their product is ready for launch. These partnerships are intended to give the studios not only financial support but also access to cutting‑edge technology, distribution channels, and marketing expertise. "The selection of this inaugural cohort marks the beginning of a focused journey for these 15 studios," said Rajan Navani, a board member and the chairperson of GDAI's Incubation Subcommittee.

"Over the next three months, Supernova will bring together mentors, technology partners, publishers and investors to help each studio address its specific development and business priorities." Navani emphasized that the program is tailored to the unique needs of each studio, offering personalized guidance on everything from game design and engine optimization to monetization strategies and global market entry. The fifteen studios that earned a spot in the program are: 1. Absurd Games 2.

Team Quasar 3. AbhiTech Games 4.

Konkan Coast Studios 5. Dunali Games 6. Chitrakala Interactive 7.

Ashdev Studios 8. Compiling Shaders 9. Brahman Studios 10. Yaari Games 11.

Funwave Studio 12. Arcadon Games 13.

Shivaansh Artvision 14. AnonVision Creative Labs 15.

Parkince These studios represent a diverse cross‑section of the Indian gaming landscape, ranging from small indie teams focused on narrative‑driven experiences to technically ambitious groups experimenting with emerging technologies such as augmented reality and blockchain‑based gaming economies. By bringing them together under the Supernova umbrella, GDAI aims to foster a collaborative environment where ideas can be exchanged, partnerships can form, and best practices can be shared.

Beyond the immediate benefits of mentorship and resource allocation, the Supernova program is part of GDAI's broader strategy to strengthen the Indian gaming sector on multiple fronts. The association currently represents over 200 member studios and is actively involved in talent development, international outreach, and policy advocacy. One of its long‑term goals is to create a pipeline that can feed more than 25,000 students across the country into game development careers, thereby expanding the talent pool and ensuring a sustainable pipeline of skilled professionals. The involvement of global giants such as Tencent underscores the growing interest of international investors in India's burgeoning gaming market.

With a rapidly expanding user base, increasing smartphone penetration, and a cultural affinity for interactive entertainment, India is poised to become one of the largest gaming hubs in the world. Supernova is positioned to act as a catalyst, helping studios scale their operations, refine their product offerings, and ultimately compete on a global stage.

During the three‑month incubation period, each studio will receive a structured curriculum that covers core areas such as game mechanics design, user experience optimization, live‑ops management, and data‑driven decision making. In addition, technical workshops will be conducted by partners like Mintegral, which will share insights on effective ad monetization, while Lakshya Digital will provide guidance on brand building and community engagement. The Demo Day at IGDC will serve as the culminating event, where studios will present polished demos or early builds to an audience of investors, publishers, media representatives, and fellow developers.

This exposure is expected to generate valuable feedback, potential publishing deals, and seed funding that can propel these startups beyond the incubation phase. Overall, the launch of Supernova reflects GDAI's commitment to creating an ecosystem that supports every stage of a game's lifecycle—from concept and prototype to launch and post‑launch support. By leveraging strategic partnerships, offering hands‑on mentorship, and providing tangible resources like ad credits and technology access, the program aspires to turn promising ideas into commercially viable products that can resonate both domestically and internationally. As the selected studios embark on this intensive journey, the Indian gaming community watches with anticipation, hopeful that the success of this first cohort will set a precedent for future editions of Supernova and further solidify India's reputation as a hotbed for innovative game development.
