The Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) has unveiled the first batch of participants for its newly launched Supernova incubation initiative, naming fifteen studios out of a pool of more than 260 applications. This marks a significant milestone for the Indian gaming ecosystem, as the association seeks to nurture early‑stage developers and accelerate the creation of high‑quality, market‑ready games.
Supernova, which kicked off in July 2026, is designed as a three‑month intensive program that offers selected studios a blend of mentorship, technical and marketing credits, as well as curated introductions to potential investors and publishing partners. At the conclusion of the term, the cohort will have the chance to showcase their progress and prototypes at a dedicated Demo Day held during the upcoming India Game Developers Conference (IGDC), providing a high‑visibility platform to attract further funding and distribution deals. The incubator operates in close collaboration with a roster of industry heavyweights, including global gaming giant Tencent, advertising and monetisation specialist IVIPRO, game development support firm SpielFabrique, the Indian mobile marketplace Indus Appstore, ad‑network Mintegral, and the digital services company Lakshya Digital.
Among the benefits, Indus Appstore has pledged to give participating studios priority onboarding and a bundle of ad credits, a crucial resource for studios that need to jump‑start user acquisition and build an initial player base. "The formation of this inaugural cohort signals the start of a focused, collaborative journey for these fifteen studios," said Rajan Navani, board member and chair of GDAI's Incubation Sub‑Committee. "Over the next ninety days, Supernova will bring together seasoned mentors, cutting‑edge technology partners, seasoned publishers and forward‑looking investors to help each studio tackle its unique development challenges and business objectives." The chosen studios represent a diverse cross‑section of the Indian game development landscape.
They are: - Absurd Games - Team Quasar - AbhiTech Games - Konkan Coast Studios - Dunali Games - Chitrakala Interactive - Ashdev Studios - Compiling Shaders - Brahman Studios - Yaari Games - Funwave Studio - Arcadon Games - Shivaansh Artvision - AnonVision Creative Labs - Parkince Each of these studios brings its own creative vision, ranging from mobile casual titles to more ambitious narrative‑driven experiences. The Supernova program will tailor its support to the specific needs of each participant, whether that involves refining gameplay mechanics, optimizing art pipelines, navigating the complexities of monetisation, or crafting a compelling pitch deck for investors. Beyond the immediate benefits for the cohort, GDAI views Supernova as a strategic pillar of its broader mission to develop talent, expand global outreach, and influence policy in favor of the Indian gaming sector.
The association currently represents over 200 member studios and is actively working to increase the pipeline of skilled professionals. By targeting more than 25,000 students across the country with educational initiatives, GDAI hopes to create a sustainable talent pool that can feed future studios and elevate the overall quality of games produced in India.
The partnership with Tencent adds a layer of international credibility and opens doors to potential cross‑border collaborations. Tencent’s extensive experience in publishing, live‑ops, and community management can provide invaluable insights for studios that aspire to scale beyond the domestic market. Similarly, the involvement of Indus Appstore and Mintegral ensures that studios have access to robust distribution channels and performance‑driven advertising solutions, which are essential for gaining traction in the highly competitive mobile gaming arena. In addition to the core mentorship and credit offerings, Supernova will host a series of workshops and masterclasses covering topics such as user acquisition strategies, data‑driven game design, intellectual property protection, and navigating regulatory frameworks.
These sessions are intended to equip developers with the practical knowledge needed to make informed decisions throughout the lifecycle of a game, from concept to launch and post‑launch support. The Demo Day at IGDC will serve as the program’s culminating event, where each studio will present a polished demo or prototype to an audience of industry veterans, potential investors, media representatives, and fellow developers.
This exposure not only helps studios secure the next round of funding but also fosters networking opportunities that can lead to publishing deals, strategic partnerships, or mentorship beyond the three‑month window. GDAI’s leadership is optimistic that the Supernova cohort will set a precedent for future iterations of the program.
By demonstrating tangible outcomes—such as successful funding rounds, published titles, or measurable growth in user bases—the association aims to attract additional corporate partners and expand the program’s capacity in subsequent years. Overall, the launch of Supernova reflects a concerted effort by the Indian gaming community to professionalise its development pipeline, attract global investment, and position India as a burgeoning hub for innovative game creation. As the fifteen selected studios embark on this intensive journey, they carry the hopes of an industry eager to showcase its creative potential on the world stage.
